Ms. Anbreen Ajaib is a known women’s rights activist based in Islamabad. She is working in the development sector for last 18 years and her experience ranges from working at the grass root level to the senior management level. Anbreen has two masters’ degrees, M.A in Human Rights and Social Justice from London Metropolitan University London, UK and M.Sc. in Psychology from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad. She also has a diploma in Social Enterprise Management from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Lahore.
As full time employee she has worked with international organizations like Actionaid International, Plan International, Democracy Reporting International and national organizations like SPO, Bedari and IRADAH in different capacities. Major areas of work include Gender sensitive strategic planning and program development, women’s political empowerment, advocacy for policy reforms for women’s rights, monitoring and evaluation, training on gender and contemporary management themes, liaison with donors, partners and like-minded organizations, and working with parliamentarians for policy reforms.
During her career, Anbreen has received a number of trainings of trainers. She is a qualified trainer and has conducted a number of trainings on gender issues and child rights with participants of different profiles ranging from community groups to government officials, lawyers, media persons, police, development professionals and parliamentarians. Anbreen has been teaching as visiting faculty at different Universities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi to the students of Masters’ degree.
Born and brought up in a rural district Chakwal and having international exposure at the same time has contributed in presenting Anbreen as a remarkable blend of knowledge about the real needs and issues at grass-root level and internationally accepted strategies to address these issues. This combination of her personal experiences, professionalism and activism has made Anbreen an asset for the civil society in Pakistan.
Anbreen’s work has been published. Paper on “addressing violence against girls in and out of school” was published in a book titled “Combating gender based violence at Schools” edited by professor Fiona Leach of University of Sussex. The publication “Youth Strategy Paper” printed by Action Aid. A paper on “Early marriages of girls; a comparative analysis of India Pakistan and Bangladesh” is published by SPO. SPO also published another paper of her titled “Women’s Political Participation during Election 2013”.
Farida has done MPA Finance, and has additional qualifications of LLB. She has nearly 20 years of experience of working in development sector. She has worked with communities, conducted surveys, provided support to victims of violence and abuse in addition to her expertise in finance. She has worked with Bedari in various capacities before taking up the finance department in 2009. She is associated with Bedari since 2006.
Ms. Saima Toor has master’s degree in Women Studies. She joined Bedari in 2010. She is working as Program Manager. At Bedari, she managed 5 projects on Ending Violence against Women and worked for promotion and protection of women and girls. She has good managerial skills and supervising team of 8 people. She has 16 years working experience in development sector. During her career she worked with different organization like AMAL Human Development Network and Astute Associates in different capacities. She participated in different international training workshops at Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands and Thailand.
Rafique Khan Jadoon
Beside the graduation in Law, Mr. Rafique Jadoon has Master degree in Political Science and Rural Development
and having more than 28 years’ experience in the research, management, development, relief programs and
governance across Pakistan. He worked with different organizations like International Water Management
Institute (IWMI) and Plan Pakistan. He has conducted need assessment and baseline surveys. He is also the author
of a number of professional publications and research reports. Mr. Jadoon has served Bedari since 2010 in
different capacities. Currently, he is with Bedari as Program Manager, implementing a project, Citizen
Observation for Transparent and Accountable Election in Pakistan, of TDEA (Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability) funded by USAID through Citizen’s Voice Project.
Ms. Raffat Shuja, an Alig (has studied at Aligarh University in India), holds MBA (marketing) degree from Virtual University. She joined Bedari in 2015 as a volunteer. Her commitment and hard work helped her move quite quickly up the ladder. Currently, she is working as a Program Manager. She is managing Bedari’s “GIRLSInspire” project. With expertise of monitoring and evaluation, she also holds good managerial and communication skills. She participated in an international training at Nepal. She is competent and keen to bring a change in the society with her work. She is also managimg “Marriage no Child’s Play” project being implemented with technical support of Oxfam.
Ms. Mehvish Shafiq voluntarily joined Bedari in 2012 and started her professional career with in July 2013. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology. She served Bedari in various capacities and now is working as a Project Manager for “She Can Lead”. The project is supported by Oxfam. She is having three years’ experience of working on variety of social problems including child marriage, child abuse and violence against women, child education and shelter homes. She participated in an international training at Nepal. She is flexible and so has a grasp on multitasking which makes her competent to conduct the tasks effectively.
Provincial Coordinator – Lahore
Ms. Irum has master’s degree in Political Science from Punjab University Lahore and graduation in Fine Arts from NCA. She is working as Provincial Coordinator in Bedari. She has expertise of community mobilization, delivery of training on different topics and project implementation. She has creative skills and always comes up with new ideas and initiatives. She has working experience in different capacities with different organizations like Save the Children, Cavish and Family Planning Association of Pakistan (FPAP). She has 10 years working experience in development sector. She has attended training workshops in Bangladesh, India, USA, Australia and Netherlands. She has been associated with Bedari since 2010. She served at various offices including Attock, Multan, and now in Lahore.
District Coordinator – Chakwal
Masters in Rural Sociology, Hameeda Nasir has 12 years working experience in development sector. She worked with prominent organizations including Sachet and Plan Internationals. She has 9 years’ experience of working as Maser Trainer for Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). She has long journey of working with communities and grass root level organizations. She joined Bedari as Program Officer in 2013 and diligently taking forward the mission and vision of Bedari to empower women and children. She has exposure of international visits to Nepal and Netherlands.
District Coordinator – Vehari
With the vast experience of training Yasmeen Fatima is working as Program Officer at Bedari. She completed her Masters in Gender & Women Studies and English. She has a grip on community mobilization and implementation of project activities. She has comprehensive field experience and managing Bedari Vehari field office. She participated in training related to Child Marriage held in Kathmandu, Nepal. Yasmeen have working experience with different organizations like Friends Foundation and Islamic Relief International. She is with Bedari since 2008.
Muhammad Haseeb Iqbal
Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator
Mr. M. Haseeb Iqbal is a social development specialist with diverse experience of 8 years as a part of both national and international organizations. He holds a master’s degree in Social work from Islamia University, Bahawalpur. His key areas are project management, development of Monitoring and Evaluation formats/indicators, log frame, policies, research studies, case studies, success stories, family planning, education, community based school management, voucher management, advocacy and lobbying, pre-testing, evaluation of social mobilization and BCC materials. He also hold good liaison and working with provincial and district line departments and stakeholders.He has expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation, data demand and use, periodic surveys and development, advocacy, communication and culture for M&E Plans, supporting supervision, economic evaluation and Gender along with social evaluation research.
