Sara belongs to a village of District Muzaffargarh and works as a teacher in a private school. Sara’s parents got her engaged with her maternal cousin when she was a child. After years when Sara grew up and she came to know about this engagement, she refused to get married with her cousin. Sara’s parents took a wise decision and broke the engagement for the sake of happiness of their daughter. They fixed her marriage somewhere else where Sara agreed. Once the family of Sara’s cousin got the news, they got offended. The cousin and his family started harassing Sara and her family by threatening that in case she gets married with another man, they’d kill both bride and groom. They also fired a gun shot in front of Sara’s house to scare them. They came along with their purpose and Sara’s family cancelled her engagement. Sara got scared of all of this scenario. She started facing psychological issues including anxiety and stress. She discussed the whole matter with one of her colleagues. Her colleague shared information about Bedari’s counseling services. She advised her to contact Bedari for support. Sara with her father visited Bedari office and met the psychologist. They shared the whole incident with the psychologist. The psychologist conducted counseling session with Sara separately. Sara did her catharsis and shared her feeling with the psychologist. She shared that it is difficult for her to share her feelings with her family openly and she needed a way out through catharsis. After the session, she shared that she is feeling better. The psychologist also arranged a meeting with Sara’s father and discussed all the possible options to get rid of this situation. Sara’s father agreed with the option to inform police about the threats they were receiving from the other family. Sara’s father reported the threats to the police in Muzaffargarh. Police officials also visited Sara’s house. This gave a message to the opposite party and they retrieved the threats. Now sara is getting married in December with a person of her choice. She is thankful towards the project team for the support.
