5th Annual Conference on Girls’ Education - Bedari

  • Lahore

Bedari proudly held its 5th Annual Conference in Lahore, bringing together girls from various districts across Punjab to celebrate International Day of the Girl Child and to raise awareness about critical issues such as girls’ education, leadership, and rights. The conference served as a powerful platform for girls to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and advocate for gender equality.

One of the key highlights of the event was a dynamic moot court session featuring Punjab’s Education Minister, Mr. Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan. In this engaging session, the minister participated in a direct question-and-answer format with the girls, addressing their concerns and discussing vital issues related to education policy, access to resources, and girls’ empowerment. The moot court provided a unique opportunity for the girls to voice their challenges and receive real-time responses from a key decision-maker. The minister’s candid and joyful personality left a lasting impression on the participants, inspiring both dialogue and action.

This year’s conference not only underscored Bedari’s ongoing commitment to empowering young girls through education and advocacy but also further strengthened its collaboration with the Government of Punjab. As part of the conference, Bedari girls had the opportunity to meet Chief Minister Ms. Maryam Nawaz, who presented tablets to some of the girls as part of her initiative to enhance their educational access. The Chief Minister also approved Bedari’s proposal for officially celebrating International Day of the Girl Child across Punjab, marking a significant achievement in our advocacy efforts.

Bedari remains committed to fostering spaces where girls can engage with policymakers, advocate for their rights, and become leaders in their own communities. This year’s conference has once again shown the power of collective action in making a lasting impact on the future of girls’ education and empowerment in Pakistan.
