My name is Baz Khan, 52 years old and belong to a remote village of District Chakwal. I have 4 daughters and 2 sons. My first marriage happened at the age of 28 while my wife was of 14. She gave birth to 2 girls and 2 boys. During the delivery of 4^th child she died due to complications in pregnancy. After her death it was very difficult for me to take care of 4 children and to go on for work. On this situation my relatives advised me to remarry. Thus I got married with younger sister of my wife. At this time, I was 33 and she was 13. It was not fair to marry with such a young girl but I became selfish and wanted a woman to take care of my children. After this marriage everything happened against my expectations. On my departure for work my wife used to go outside and play with the community girls instead of taking care of my children and home. Thus dispute started among us and I used to beat her for not performing her responsibilities. In two years she became mother of 2 children and circumstances trained her for household chores. I used to think that my all problems are because  my wife is not capable and not fulfilling her responsibilities. One day, I attended a session of Bedari on Child Marriage and its consequences in February 2019. I realized first time in the life that my tough life is not because of my wife, but actually I am responsible for all this, both time I got married with girl child. Furthermore, I didn’t follow the family planning. My thinking changed after this session and I returned to home with different mindset towards discriminatory attitude with girls and boys. Now, my wife and children are attending Bedari Activities and I will not marry my children before 18. I am also helping my wife in domestic chores. Recently I received a proposal for my daughter I refused by saying that my daughter will decide herself about her life after 18.
