I am Miraj Zahir. I am 13 years old and studying in 8th Grade. I belong to a very small village of District Vehari. My father is a Religious Leader (Imam) in a mosque of the village and member of Child Protection Committee of the village. The people of this village are very poor and mostly are uneducated. Hardly there is a primary passed girl or woman in my village. Here are many social issues for example domestic violence, child marriage, women are deprived of their inheritence rights. Moreover these issues are not considered social evils. Being an Imam my father is one of the noble persons of the village. His opinion about any matter is considered important. During his sermon in Juma he talks about the importance of girls’ education. He tells people about imprtance of education for women and men with the reference of Religion Islam. Besides this he also delivers information defintion of child, appropriate age of marriage, child marriage with its consequence and Child Marriage Law with fine and imprisonment for parents and those who facilitate the Child Marriage. Now many girls of my village have started to go to school. I am much inspired from the girls who attend school on their bicycles, an initiative of Bedari. I also said to my father to purchase a bicycle for me I will attend school on my bicyle. My countinous demand for bicycle forced my father to purchase it for me. Now, I am attending school on bicycle.
