Rashid Iqbal belongs to District Layyah. He has received education up to intermediate level. He used to help his father in farming activity on a small piece of land they owned. Rashid always wanted to do something else to improve the financial situation of his family because this could not be achieved by meagre agriculture. But he did not have capital to start a business and he did not want to do a job either. Rashid’s life was passing in this condition. That was the time when the EYW Project team from Bedari Office Layyah visited the town where Rashid lived. He found it interested in the project from the beginning. He was made Group Innovator for the town. He received multiple trainings under the project such as Standard Packaging, Life Skills, Livestock small business etc. During the trainings, Rashid made the decision about what should be the direction of his career. Rashid went to his relatives in Islamabad and with their help, opened a fruit and vegetable shop. He faced certain problems in the beginning as the place and people were not well-known to him. But he never lost courage and continued his work there with determination. His troubles were over soon and his business started progressing. It has been more than a year now that his business is running smooth. He plans to open another shop with the help of a trusted person. Rashid is living a prosperous life now. He is of the view that if he was not guided by EYW Project, He would have been doing some menial job which could offer no substantial progress. In the light of his experience, he suggests the youth to go for business, even if small, instead of running after jobs.
