When there is a flood in river Indus, it doesn’t damage the lives but also the crops, live stocks and other livelihoods of the natives. We have faced lots of havocs caused by such floods time to time. We are surviving with these disasters to some extent as leaving our culture and motherland is impossible for us. Uzma bibi, a resident of Village “Wark Wala District Layyah” expressed these realities of her difficult survival. She struggled for her own and sibling’s education despite the school was situated at remote location. After her marriage she was confused a lot how to survive, as with current education credentials, she was unable to perform any job.  Team of EYW from Bedari visited her village one day and enrolled her as member. She participated in many trainings like Standard package, small business skills and life skills delivered by this team and started planning to initiate something for income generation. She decided to rely on herself and started a small shop having tailoring items for the natives. She started getting benefits from the sale of these items and purchased a fridge where she put cold drinks and edible items that helped her in additional earnings. She started her business with a nominal investment and Alhamdulillah today its volume increased. It’s not only beneficial for her but also for the local tailors and village women who used to spend extra time and money to go to nearby town for purchasing these items. Few other women working in fields, got inspired from her idea and one of them started her own small general store in village.
